Feeling satisfied

This is a book that I’d roughly describe as 70% brotherly moments, 10% food/farming, 10% romance and the remaining between other family/clan/village, imperial examination and system. This story is definitely one where MC’s older (half) brother has the most important presence in the story.

MC does have a pretty young/naive personality, but it’s revealed that he was only like 8 when he transmigrated.

MC, the older brother and their relationship

Yep, this section appears before the usual section about ML because of how dominant their relationship is in the story. So essentially, MC transmigrates into this ancient world where he’s a villain in a villainous family that abuses the brother. The brother has a complicated background, but roughly he is a half-brother to MC and none of his parents love him because of infidelity and abandonment. The brother is basically driven crazy in the original trajectory, killing off the entire family. The system tells MC that he basically has to build a good relationship with the villain.

MC initially takes a while to figure out to build his relationship with his brother, but after that they start pampering each other. MC becomes quite the businessman (to raise funds to raise his brother pretty much and let his family earn income so they’d stop abusing his brother). ML carries him on his back, tuck him into bed and all sorts of other things. It’s a very cute relationship where both brothers are brocons with each other.

MC, ML and their relationship

The growth line for MC is so long to the point that their relationship takes a fairly long time to even develop. Saving ML appears as a mission objective approximately a few chapters before 50. ML is a poor little guy in the cold palace who is abused by palace maids and eunuchs. Like MC’s brother in the original trajectory, he also goes crazy and kills off the entire imperial palace.

After their inital acquantaince is established, MC tries to figure out a solution, but this essentially leads to them being separated for half the story. When they finally meet, ML has also become a brocon and doesn’t quite recognise MC. After that…ML also starts pampering MC so basically MC is a bit lazy from start (his brother) to end (ML). Their relationship is cute, but a bit bland compared with the brotherly one.

The side characters & the MC

There were many side characters in this story. MC’s family members, their teacher, the clan members, MC & brother’s own circle of friends etc. MC certainly has a very positive outlook on life, and his relationships with the others are generally pretty heartwarming as well.

The system doesn’t have much use in this story. It provides a bit of entertainment and food to MC I guess? It’s pretty cutesy and silly, so it gets along pretty well with MC. But yeah, MC doesn’t really have a golden finger in this story

Conclusion

I think this is one that almost makes it to my recommended list. I wouldn’t really read this one for the romance (it is present and they are cute together, but it feels so secondary to the brotherly relationship, and I also find them a bit young). You could also say it’s so idealistic (like how did no one get jealous of their success at running a business and try to sabotage it?) and other parts seem a bit absurd.

That being said, I definitely enjoyed this one because I loved the relationship between MC and the older brother. MC’s personality is so loveable, and it’s adorable how MC & brother would pamper each other. I’m satisfied with this one!
